Beacons of Light Daycare serves families in Sarnia–Lambton. Founded in 2002, the centre focuses on relationships, curiosity and developmentally appropriate, hands-on experiences.

Our Vision and Mission

Our mission: Caring for Families. Our vision is to support the emotional, physical, social and intellectual development of every child while celebrating their individuality, abilities and potential.

Our Philosophy

We see children as capable, curious learners with individual strengths and interests. Open-ended materials, child-initiated experiences, positive guidance and inclusive environments help children explore, express themselves and build self-regulation.

The Four Foundations of Learning

Our play-based, emergent curriculum is informed by Ontario’s How Does Learning Happen? framework.

Belonging

Building welcoming relationships where every child feels included and valued.

Well-Being

Supporting children’s emotional and physical development in caring, safe environments.

Engagement

Encouraging curiosity, discovery and learning through meaningful play.

Expression

Helping children communicate, create and share their ideas.

Our educators observe children’s interests and work in partnership with families to support individual growth.

Our Commitment to Learning and Families

Guided by Ontario’s How Does Learning Happen? framework, we build inclusive, nurturing environments where children learn through play, exploration and meaningful relationships.

Every Child Belongs

We celebrate individual strengths, cultures and abilities, adapting experiences and working with families and support professionals to encourage participation.

Positive Relationships and Play

Educators follow children’s interests, encourage curiosity and expression, and use respectful, positive guidance to support social and emotional growth.

Learning Together

All childcare employees complete at least 10 hours of professional development annually. Quarterly performance reviews and an annual parent satisfaction survey help inform improvements.
